See what treasures await in this garden as you create this quilt block by block! Each quilt block has a unique and beautiful floral design that weaves throughout the square. A filigree background stitch holds down the batting instead of a traditional stippling stitch to give the base fabric a luxurious and delicate detail. Vines, leaves, and flowers decorate the center of each quilt block, drawing some inspiration from the florals of folk art that we love so much.
Every applique is quite simple, just follow the numbered steps alongside the placement and tackdown stitches. The border for each block in this collection strays away from our traditional folded fabric border technique. Instead of folded fabric, we tacked down each fabric strip as normal applique. After that, the applique will be finished with a clean satin stitch instead of a fold.
This collection also includes two types of sashing to really mix things up. You can use the free motion sashing and connecting blocks for a subtle order, or use the appliqued connecting blocks to carry the bright bursts of color throughout the quilt.
